Happy Holidays

December 11, 2013

Happy Holidays everyone! I hope you are all enjoying the holidays and that they’re filled with fun, family and friends!

I also hope that you will pause to think of our families who have lost a loved one. Take a little time to do something kind and loving for someone who is mourning the loss of their loved one. This care and support is important – especially during the holiday season.

While the holidays are a cheerful time of the year, they can also be very painful for those who have lost a loved one. While many are laughing and celebrating, some families are reminded of their loss. And it’s painful.

This year will be my second year without my mother, and I know the emptiness I feel not having her around.  I know she is in a better place. But still, she is so deeply missed by us all. She dedicated her life to helping others and trying to make sure others were okay. And as her daughter, it is an honor to follow in her foot steps by reaching out and helping others in need.

So this holiday season, please take time to remember our brothers and sisters who are in pain. We need to reach out with warmth and compassion – whether it’s inviting them into your home or bringing them something special, or just going to visit them to make sure they’re okay. Buy them a little gift or baked goods or something kind to let them know you are thinking of them. And wish them well.

On behalf of all of us at Freedom Quilts… Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
