Freedom Quilts Book: A Thread of Hope

Freedom Quilts book - a Thread of Hope

We’re absolutely thrilled to announce that the Freedom Quilts book – A Thread of Hope – is published! This book tells the story of how Freedom Quilts was started, including our very first trip to New York to present quilts to the 9/11 families.

The story reveals how faith, my family, my friends and community banded together to make it possible to bring quilts to the families of 911. Their pain was felt by us all.

A Thread of Hope is the beginning of it all. It’s the pain, inspiration and love that carried us to our journey today of making comforting quilts in honor of our fallen soldiers, police officers, and firefighters made the ultimate sacrifice in service to us all.

A THREAD OF HOPE – An account of Betty Nielsen, a faith filled, determined, courageous and compassionate woman. Her husband, Dennis, is a wonderful helpmate for her passion. Her quilts of love gave comfort and hope to so many grieving people after 911. Now, she continues to make quilts of love and comfort for the families of fallen soldiers.

I basically read “A Thread of Hope” in one day as I couldn’t put it down. What a compelling story of how God inspired Betty to lead a project that continues to bring comfort to many – only by the Grace of God!! I found myself feeling the emotion of the situation as I read. Thank-you for sharing this story, Betty.
